Operation Green Light Highlights Support for Our Veterans and
Acknowledgement of their Sacrifices
November 4, 2025 – The Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) is proud to show support for veterans by participating in the fifth anniversary of Operation Green Light, and illuminating its Alhambra administrative building with green lights from November 4 through November 11, 2025.
Spearheaded by the National Association of Counties, and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers, county governments across the nation take part in the annual effort to let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. The green lights are expected to glow over hundreds of counties in recognition of the sacrifices and bravery of veterans as well as to raise awareness around the growing needs and resources for those who have served.
The LACDA is committed to providing support to veterans through the Federally-funded Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Program in partnership with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The VASH Program assists homeless veterans and their families in securing and sustaining affordable housing while also highlighting the significance of other support services. The LACDA currently houses 2,262 veterans through VASH and continues to strive to empower veterans to achieve long-lasting self-sufficiency.
Additionally, the LACDA’s programs support the investment of local, State, and Federal resources that assist in the development and construction of special needs housing for vulnerable populations such as veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness. In just one year, the LACDA has contributed to development of six veteran projects currently under construction and four veteran projects in predevelopment which will bring 980 units online upon completion. This is in addition to two veteran developments completed in the last 12 months, which brought 188 units online (including managers units).
“We are proud to support this effort,” said Emilio Salas, LACDA Executive Director and United States Army veteran. “As part of its mission, We Build Better Lives & Better Neighborhoods, the LACDA will continue to promote acts of remembrance and gratitude for servicemembers’ invaluable sacrifices.”
